Designed by Bertjan Pot and introduced in the Moooi collection in 2002, the Random Light has become a best seller right from the beginning. It transmits a feeling of simplicity, softness, lightness and a touch of magic in contemporary style. The production process is a special story by itself: a resin drained yarn is randomly coiled around an inflatable beach ball creating a translucent 3D fabric. The beach ball is then deflated and extracted from a round opening in the lamp. At the end the skin becomes the product. Soft and magic.
Random Light II transmits a feeling of simplicity, lightness and a touch of magic in a contemporary style. Due to how they're made, each Random Light is unique. They're never completely round, yet always beautifully transparent and delicate.

Bertjan Pot
Bertjan Pot was born in 1975 in the Netherlands. He focuses in the material and production processes. He likes to use computer aesthetics and industrial production methods, but without actually using a computer or sometimes even the industrial production method as a design tool. Almost all of his designs come from experiments in materials. He believes that the way a product feels is just as important as the way it looks. In many of his products such as the Carbon Chair, the Random Light, the Random Chair and the Knitted lamp, all for Moooi, the skin or material of the product becomes the actual product. Many of his products are self-initiated because he feels that a product just needs to be made, but others are commissioned by companies. Some of his clients include Moooi, Arco, Van Vilt, and Goods.
