Billiani
Marcel 473
Kazuhide Takahama designed the Marcel coffee table in the seventies, using only metal rod and glass. A very simple piece that has not suffered over time, and which today Billiani re–proposes, with the help of the heirs of the Japanese master, in a wider range of formats and finishes.

- The Designer
Billiani
We have produced wooden chairs in Italy for over a century, in a region of small specialized workshops where the culture of wood has deep roots.
The Billiani company was founded in 1911 to produce chairs in curved wood with caning. In 2019 Cristina Celestino, an architect and designer based in Milan, was appointed as the company’s artistic director. The chair is still a central focus, as is the material: wood, the true leitmotif of the collection.
Kazuhide Takahama
Kazuhide Takahama was born in Japan in 1930 and graduated from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1953. In 1957 he designed the Japanese stand at the XI Milan Triennale, where he met Dino Gavina, beginning a long working relationship and friendship. He settled in Bologna and designed seating for Gavina that Knoll went on to produce.
He also co-founded the brand Simon International and designed Bologna’s bus shelters, and he died in Bologna in 2010. Billiani reissues his Marcel coffee and side tables, designed in 1974 in metal rod and glass, with the help of his heirs.
