Mario Marenco's most recognisable furniture piece designed in 1970, the self-titled Marenco sofa perfectly sums up Arflex's ambition to modernise production and design itself. The indoor sofa system was added to by Arflex in 2020 with a collection for the outdoors too. The characteristic curves of Marenco's sculptural cushions that define the Italian classic are only one side of the sofa's innovative design. Its concealed metal frame in Fiat red cleverly supports the seat and armrest that are designed to slip on and off with ease, giving the collection both comfort and practicality.
Mario Marenco
Mario Marenco studied architecture in Naples and received grants for research in Stockholm and Chicago. In 1960, he established his own architecture and design atelier in Rome, Studio DEGW. During his architectural career, he taught at the University of Sydney and worked for firms such as B&B Italia and Arflex.
