Sjoerd Vroonland

Dutch born Sjoerd Vroonland has been running the design label Vroonland with product developer Arjan Vaandrager since 2010, with a focus on chairs as a continuous thread throughout their work. The design process is guided by the questions, 'Is a chair purely functional? Is it a showpiece and a visual story? Or is it an expression of technical know-how and therefore representative if its era?'. Vroonland's designs deconstruct 19th and 20th century classics, developing new craftsmanship techniques in these new designs. The innovative ideas and processes of Vroonland create new perceptions and functions about furniture, which have been recognised by internationally renowned company Moooi.
